Sweet Hello Kitty

Yes! I'm a Hello Kitty Lover :)) And I don't even know why! I just think she's really cute! Anyway, I just wanted to show you guys my Hello Kitty items today bc I accidentally found the perfect spot to display them! (It's a white ikea shelving unit. I just bought it the other day.)

Lovely, right? :) I had the exact same ikea shelving unit before that, but it was black.
(Those are all birthday gifts from my friends in Brisbane for the past two years!)

Btw, how adorable is this? It's a personalized hk necklace!
It's Handmade by LittleMandarinka. Thanks, chi Trang!
Oh, and the studs, ring, bracelet, headband and bobby pins are all made by her :D

Baby Quilt in process :)

Hi there! Look.. I finally had the chance to modify my blog's design! It's pinky and girly and soo me! I love it! What d'u think of it? Hehe. If you like, you can find this background @ Backgroundlabs :)

Anyway, don't you think handmade gifts are always more thoughtful? Well.. I do. And this is the reason why I am sewing something for my newborn niece who will be turning 1month old very soon! At first, I thought of a skirt bc it's summer right now in Australia but charm squares skirts' without 2 rows looks a bit funny. So I decided to make a baby quilt!
And here are some pictures:

All I did here was set out the squares. It was quite easy :)) I played around with the colors a lot though.
(Personally, I don't like this charm squares pack very much, but "fun" is what I was chasing after.
Which is why this pack is perfect :) )

And now; time to sew! :)

Happy New Year!

Wow, I can't believe we're in 2012 already. Sometimes, I wake up thinking we're still in 2011. Time definitely flies by when you are busy! Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! I hope you all had a wonderful time with your family and friends and I wish you all the best for this year ^.^

Not quite satisfied

Omg! It's been so long since I've last updated my blog! I've been so busy with christmas and other events this month @.@ Anyway, how was everyones' holiday? ^.^ Mine was great! Busy. But i had a lot of fun with my loved ones :))

Oh and y'day, I finally had the chance to see my niece (my cousins' daughter) and give her the "Little Girls' Patchwork Skirt". I was quite happy, but not 100% happy yet :( The skirt was a bit small for her in form of length and width. It didn't flare out as much as I wanted it to be, but I think she liked it anyway :P So here is a picture of my niece wearing the skirt:

See? :( It's a bit short and it doesn't flare out :(

Btw, the skirt was actually made for a 4-6year old little girl.  My niece is 9yo but she is quite small, so I thought it would fit her. I guess I was "kind-of" wrong. If you give this to a 4-6 yo girl though, it should be perfect! :)
Anyway, It's NYE tomorrow! So, Happy "Early" New Year Everyone! ^.^

Little Girls' Patchwork Skirt

Guess what? Guess what? Guess what? =)))
I've been learning how to sew these past two days and truthfully, i find it quite fun (and frustrating)! Anyway, I was looking through The Polkadotchair tutorials and I found this really cute iPad cover that I wanted to make but it was way too complicated! So i tried to find something easier. My friend told me to make a quilt for my niece but knowing myself, I would take forever to finish it + I prefer small projects over big ones :P (Big project takes forever and I hate leaving un-finished projects hanging somewhere in my room). Anyway, I then asked her whether the little girls' skirts she has been making was hard or not and she told me it was "very easy" so I took out some fabrics that I bought online the other day and started on my project. (I bought so much moda pre-cuts! Shipping usually takes 2-3 days but I hate waiting. So I just bought it all at once :D)

Little Girls' Patchwork Skirt
And this is all you need for this adorable skirt!
A moda charm square pack.
(Why Sherbet pips by Aneela Hoey? Bc I think it's perfect for a little girl!)

And of course, a wide elastic band for the waist, and approximately 50cm matching fabric!! (No more than $30!) This is also the reason why I love this design. It's easy once you get it, and you don't need to look around for different fabrics; etc!

And here is the first step!
All you need to do is set out your charm squares :D (Easy, right?)
Oh, I totally forgot. Here is the tutorial for the skirt: Little Girls' Patchwork Skirt by The Polkadotchair ^.^

Anyway, now.. The final result!
(I didn't take any pictures while making the skirt because I couldn't be bothered and I was way too frustrated to think about taking pictures! Lol)

And here it is!!!!! My very first sewing project!
Size 4-6 years old.
(I love it so much that I think i'm gonna make another one soon :D)

Not too bad for a beginner, right? :D My sister-in-law told me sewing was very easy to learn! (I don't think she's quite right yet, but it's definitely easier than knitting!) She studied fashion & design before she was pregnant and designed extremely nice things so I think I'm gonna ask her for some help one day ;))

Baby blankie

Finally!! I just finished my niece's crocheted baby blanket 10' ago! :D And this is the exact reason why I wasn't able to blog this week. It's been quite cold in Melbourne these past few days and I have been taking advantage of it by crochet-ing. (I never knit or crochet when it's hot. I always feel really sweaty when the temperature rises above 26C and being around yarn makes me feel even worse!)
Anyway, here are some pictures of my project:

The perfect yarn for baby blankets :)
(It's so nice and soft! And also available in many other colors!)

I have to admit; finding the perfect yarn was the hardest thing out of all. My baby niece has really sensitive skin, so I tried for something not too itchy, not too thick and of course; very very soft! And the yarn above was just the right thing for her! :))

This picture was taken earlier this evening.
I made a mistake and couldn't find it. I was soo frustrated! >.<"

Why did I do a mistake? I was watching TV with my cousin while finishing off the baby blanket. The lesson I learnt? I can't multi-task when it comes to crocheting. And I don't think I'm gonna try that ever again. It took me 30' to find the stupid mistake and I had to take off 6 rows! Biggest drainer!

And here it is! Finally finished! ^.^
(You can't see the pattern clearly here, so I posted another picture below)

Et voila! Ta-da!!
Cute, huh?

I know, It's not perfect. I really need to improve my crochet skills (can I even call it skills? I only know the basics!) but not too bad for a beginner, right? :)) I'm so proud of myself! This project is such a big accomplishment for me because usually; I get bored of things easily and I always give up.. Which is a habit i definitely need to change!

Btw, how cute is my Hello Kitty? ^.^ I find her sooo cute! Don't you agree with me? :P I received it as a gift from my friends in Brisbane! And my Angry Birds too! My girls gave it to me for my birthday also. (Although I'm not a big fan of the game, I still like them very much! hehe)

Anyway, It's 2am right now in Melbski. Sleeping time. Goodnight readers! :)

Gran Turismo 5!

OMG! I can't even remember the last time i played this game! It was soo long ago! I know.. It's a big change from knitting - to this. But I just can't resist! GT5 is one of the best driving game! And.. I've always loved cars since I was young so it makes it even more interesting! Anyway, I got my PS3 late last year and I bought "Need for Speed" for my first driving game :)) I didn't like it so much, though. It wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. But luckily, a few days later; I heard GT5 was coming out. I was sooo excited (I even pre-ordered it!)!

And here are my two driving games! :))

Finally, When GT5 arrived, I played with it and absolutely loved it! (much more than NFS) Although I think it was a bad idea because I kinda got hooked onto it and didn't sleep until 1 or 2 am nearly every night. Anyway, doesn't matter. It's still good! And you know what's also really good about it? You can connect with your friends and play together! :)) My friend also bought GT5 around the same time as I did and we played online together. It was fun! So, If you are into driving games - I would definitely recommend Gran Turismo 5.

G27 Logitech Wheels.
And this! It makes life so much more fun! ^.^
